"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents."
~ Emilie Buchwald

I've traveled the world twice over,
Met the famous; saints and sinners,
Poets and artists, kings and queens,
Old stars and hopeful beginners,
I've been where no-one's been before,
Learned secrets from writers and cooks
All with one library ticket
To the wonderful world of books.

A Variety Show For Your Library!

What has been said about past library programs?

"Adults loved it, middle schoolers could not stay blase, elementary schoolers were enthralled, even the 4 year olds could tell their mothers about it afterwards."

"We really appreciate how you integrated the use of libraries and books into the program. So many performers say they have a program that features libraries and the summer theme, when what they really mean is they slipped a few words into a standardized program. You made libraries, books and research the central feature of your presentation. Fantastic! "

What has been said about THIS library program?

Scott Oberman is an extraordinary performer and reading motivator! The performance includes such a wonderful variety of entertainment at just the right pace that captivated all audience ages and kept them wanting more. Scott's magic, stories, jokes and props were amusing and appropriate for all ages. The audience participation was so much fun and the children were very eager to participate and interact with Scott. As the Youth Services Librarian, I really appreciated the wonderful reading motivation incorporated throughout the performance and the correlating summer reading theme. Scott's entertainment more than met my expectations and the community's.

"Scott's entertainment more than met my expectations and the community's."

Scott,

Your performance at the library was entertaining and educational! We loved how you were able to combine magic and fun with the value of reading! The audience was so excited, and loved every minute of the program. And it was great that you were able to include so many children in your performance! We would love to have you back again!

"Kids and their parents were raving about the show for hours afterward. Two thumbs up! Worth every penny!"

We just wanted to thank for the wonderful performance you gave to 173 people at the Waterford Library today. Despite an age span of toddler through adult, you were able to keep everyone focused and interested in your show Goin' Fiction with Great Scott. The way you incorporated stories and magic and the summer theme throughout the performance and encouraged audience interaction and participation was impressive. We appreciated the recurring theme of "Reading is Fun" that was woven through the performance. This made your show perfect for a library setting. Kids and their parents were raving about the show for hours afterward. Two thumbs up! Worth every penny!

Great Entertainment for Your Library

Goin' Fiction, Get Hooked on Books!- That's Scott's program for the Library Systems of Wisconsin and Illinois in 2010.

Fun, Entertaining and Educational – That sums up Scott's library program for 2010. This is a one-man variety show featuring magic, story-telling, ventriloquism, appropriate mood-setting music and tons of audience involvement. Plus, since the entire program is centered around the reading theme of "Make a Splash, Read!," get ready for plenty of ‘stories from the open sea.' Classic books, popular movies and a few fun tales that take place in a watery setting are brought together to bring a boat load of entertainment to your library. While the waves of fun will lure families in, the reading message is cast loud and clear with the net result of inviting kids to get hooked on books.

Well, Great Scott!, are you looking for an entertainer to perform at your library?

Do you want someone that can convey the love of reading and get kids excited about the library? Someone who knows how to entertain children?

Scott Obermann (Great Scott) is an educational entertainer from the Milwaukee Metro area. And he has put together a dynamic program based on the "Make a Splash, Read!" theme.

"I thought you did a great job, especially the way you incorporated "nuggets" of learning, while keeping them engaged in what you were doing"
   --Karen Christianson, Lowell Public Library

Join Scott this year and be part of a very creative and interactive show. As always, there's plenty of comedy and an abundance of audience participation. Though the show is designed for children through elementary school age, parents will enjoy it as well. Many times adults comment on how much they enjoyed Scott's humor themselves.

"There were MANY positive comments after the show. Kids told me they had a good time, and parents said they thought it was great. One mom, ... was laughing so hard after the show that she could hardly speak, but she finally was able to say that she and her children had enjoyed the show immensely."
Ann Piehl -- Whitefish Bay Library

The program is 45 minutes of educational entertainment incorporating Scott's unique blend of magic tricks, humor, storytelling, book-talking, games, puppetry and just plain fun. All this is designed to capture the children's imaginations and make them aware of the adventure and fun of visiting the library and reading great books.

The kids LOVED the show! Thanks so much! In case you were wondering, that was an AMAZING turnout..."
